Logging the road miles...

Well, the last few weeks have been hectic here at the shop! 'Show Season' arrived in force, and it was time to pack up our horse trailer and hit the road! Our first stop was Knoxville "It doesn't look that far on the map" Tennessee, for the spring show at Sevierville. Larry and I made the trip, this time going west through Ohio instead of the usual death-defying jaunt through WV...

The whole area is growing rapidly, judging by the widespread construction. The one building already in place is their new convention center, which is BEAUTIFUL. And, it goes without saying, a VAST improvement over the old show site. Larry and I were very impressed, especially with the fact that the auto auction is no longer RIGHT NEXT TO US ON THE SHOW FLOOR...

(It should be noted, however, that Sevier County is DRY...and I ain't talking annual rainfall! No hard liquor allowed! So much for our shot-and-a-beer tradition. Larry and I settled for 'beer-and-a-beer'. It lacks the same charm.)

Once back in Pittsburgh, it was the ol' quick turnaround. It was VetteFest time in Chicago, and this time it was Matt and I. This show would need a much more elaborate setup from us, as we were again hosting the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Foundation for a live fundraising auction!
We took our first baby-steps with this charity in November with a silent auction, but this time we had a local (and kick-ass) auctioneer named James Drury running the auction for us. (Let a pro handle it, right?) Bob Ashton (the organizer of VetteFest) once again proved his calibre, mettle, and heart by drumming up excitement with P-A announcements, email blasts, and word of mouth. Heck, James even convinced (some would say 'tricked') the Indianapolis 500 'Princesses' into showing off the goods! (The auction items, guys...)

And so, after raising money for a good cause, showing off our own (I must say, astoundingly good) work, and painting the town 'Roman Red', we zoomed off into the wilds of Indiana, never to be seen again...

...until this week, BACK in TN, at the Chattanooga Regional. Seeya there!

Joe
